Alternative, Fun, Sparkly Wedding

wedding photos with dogs

Something borrowed, something blue, something COMPLETELY COVERED IN GLITTER!

Now, if you are like my lovely bride, Laura, then that is the mantra to follow when planning your wedding. I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of such a sparkly, alternative and fun day before and with the theme of ‘colour’ well and truly surrounding the wedding party.

Tom and Laura have been together for a long time and finally decided to tie the knot back in October 2018.  This is their favourite season because of the beautiful, colourful leaves! I was more than delighted to be able to snap away at their amazing day.

I was greeted by Barney. The biggest and, quite possibly, the sweetest dog I’ve met. After a thorough inspection of myself and my camera gear, Barney kindly permitted me entry to Tom and Laura’s home. A cup of tea and a chat with the excited bride and her best gal pals was the first port of call whilst hair and make up was decided.

Now, I’ve mentioned glitter. To say Laura is a big fan is an understatement and she was rather creative with its use. From the sparkle of the girls’ nails to the rather snazzy sequinned bridal converse trainers and rainbow clutch bag, Laura had it all covered – literally! The true extent to her glitter commitment was evident when the hair stylist sprinkled the shimmery silver, diamond specks onto Laura’s hair.  Creating the coolest of hair pieces and the biggest of smiles.

The colourful theme continued with the alternative, colourful bridesmaid dresses and with the stunning bouquets that Laura’s mum had created. Sunflowers are a favourite of mine and they looked so beautiful. A real personal touch from the Mother of the Bride.

Before we left for the church, Laura’s dad arrived to see his little girl and to prepare himself for walking her down the aisle. It was easy to see the sheer pride he had in his daughter. I love being able to capture these moments.

Tom (and Barney), meanwhile, had made it to the church before us with fellow photographer, Joss Denham, to greet their guests and to anticipate Laura’s arrival.  Some nerves could be spotted but it was short-lived.  As soon as Laura walked down the aisle, nothing but happiness could be seen.
Then it was time to PARTY! Tom and Laura wanted everyone to enjoy themselves and to celebrate with them. They ordered fish and chips from their favourite chippy for everyone and we settled in for a night of hilariously honest speeches, lots of clinking of glasses and, yes, MORE GLITTER!

To really ensure everyone was on bored with the colourful theme, Tom and Laura had glitter artists to decorate their guests with the most amazing make up. It went down a treat and I couldn’t resist joining in with this infectious, fun, colourful, sparkly and love-filled wedding.

Here’s to Tom, Laura and Barney!
