Italy Chic, Laid-Back Wedding in the Tuscan Countryside

After guests reluctantly returned to their hotels following the welcome celebrations, it wasn’t long before everyone gathered again for Suze and Andy’s wedding day. With a 4pm ceremony planned, the timing allowed guests to be comfortable throughout the day — and despite it being October, the Tuscan sunshine was still beautifully warm.

The morning unfolded slowly and intentionally, with the wedding party spending time together over breakfast before hair and make-up began in the bridal suite. Suze’s room was simply stunning, with doors opening onto Juliet balconies and uninterrupted views across the rolling Tuscan countryside — the perfect, calm setting to begin the day.

One person who was absolutely integral to the success of the weekend was Roberta, Suze and Andy’s wedding planner and florist. From ensuring the day ran seamlessly to translating key moments during the ceremony (a legal requirement), she was on hand throughout the entire celebration. Her dedication, warmth and attention to detail were exceptional.

The venue itself went above and beyond to bring Suze and Andy’s vision to life, even constructing a canopy of lights above the banqueting tables on the morning of the wedding. It completely transformed the space and set the scene for an unforgettable wedding breakfast — it really was breathtaking.

As guests arrived by bus and mingled, they made their way to the outdoor ceremony space, nestled among olive trees offering welcome shade and panoramic views across the valley below. Andy chose to walk down the aisle alongside his mum, a moment that felt incredibly meaningful. This was followed by their niece, the most conscientious flower girl — carefully collecting petals after scattering them — and Suze’s beautiful bridesmaids.

When Suze and Andy finally saw each other, the joy on their faces set the tone for the entire ceremony.

They incorporated a ‘warming of the rings’ ritual, where guests passed the wedding bands between them, offering silent wishes and blessings before the rings were returned. It was deeply personal and a lovely reflection of how loved Suze and Andy are by their family and friends. They also placed their vows into a wine box, to be opened on a future anniversary — a nod to the importance of wine throughout the day. In keeping with tradition, the local Mayor gifted them two bottles as a surprise, which felt like the perfect finishing touch.

The ceremony concluded with confetti made from olive leaves, showering Suze and Andy as they walked back down the aisle as a married couple. Drinks and canapés followed before we wandered through olive groves and beneath cypress trees during golden hour — that soft, warm light — for relaxed couple and group portraits.

As the evening unfolded, guests enjoyed time in the gardens before heading to the patio for an incredible alfresco dinner, heartfelt speeches and celebrations under thousands of twinkling lights. Later, the party moved to the outdoor dance floor, where a live Italian band kept everyone dancing well into the night — and even taught Suze’s sister the Passo Doble.

This wedding weekend was truly something special — relaxed, joyful and full of heart. I feel incredibly lucky to have been part of it and to have captured such a meaningful celebration for Suze and Andy. A beautiful couple, an unforgettable setting, and a wedding no one wanted to end.
