The Pavilion Club, Knightsbridge: A Wedding Week!

The Pavilion Club wedding
How do I begin to explain the sheer joy that was Joanna and Jaymin’s wedding week? So many wonderful moments to capture in four days of blessings, ceremonies and celebrations of these two lovely people getting married. It really was just so much fun and I loved capturing every moment for them and I can’t wait to share it all with you here.

The Vidhi

The Vidhi and Mehndi took place on the first two days at Jaymin’s brother’s home. He and his wife (what a lady!) had hired a huge marquee for their garden and decorated it with the most beautiful and colourful flowers. These included a specifically designed archway where blessings were to take place, to table pieces, where people would gather for dinner. They made the whole place so welcoming and fun.
There was so much to photograph but the Haldi, among other blessings,  was an amazing moment to capture. Jaymin was smothered in the traditional yellow turmeric paste which was to purify his skin and bring good luck to the couple.  Usually, it is applied to the face, neck, arms, hands, knees and feet, but Jaymin was extra lucky with the yellow paste finding his back and stomach too, much to everyone’s enjoyment. Once the blessings had taken place, family and friends were able to celebrate together with delicious food and dancing. It was a joyous evening which set the tone for the rest of the week which you can see below!

Kind Words

Thank you so much for all of your hard work, help and dedication to capture our special moments during our wedding week.  The samples you sent are incredible as they capture the events, and even looking at these helped us relive the moments. The style was perfect and went above our expectations.

Lots of love & until next time!

The Mehndi

The Mehndi took place on the second day and Joanna and her family joined the celebrations at Jaymin’s brother’s home.  Joanna’s beautiful henna on her hands also incorporated Jaymin’s name in the detailed design. Part of the tradition is for the groom to find his name within the pattern, which took a moment, but was successful in the end! The evening continued with intricate henna patterns being applied to the women’s hands and arms, whilst family and friends surprised guests with their traditional dances. There were also speeches and games to entertain everyone.

The Church Ceremony

The first wedding ceremony took place in the church where Joanna’s parents had been married, which I thought was a lovely connection and added to how special the occasion was. It was a beautiful ceremony and celebration which was hosted at the church too. Joanna’s sister had baked amazing cakes, including the wedding cake, and they had hired a pizza van for everyone to enjoy whilst listening to the live band. It was a really lovely, relaxed occasion and a great way to celebrate together ahead of the early morning they had the next day.

The Temple

The second wedding ceremony took place at the Temple, which was beautiful. There was also a lovely reception area here for everyone to gather, both before the ceremony for breakfast, and afterwards to celebrate. The energy in the Temple was high as everyone gathered and waited for the ritual celebrations to take place. Jaymin entered the Temple with the baraat, a procession of drumming and dancing surrounded him as he made his way to meet the bride’s family. There were many moments to capture before Joanna made her own entrance. One was the bride’s sister and cousins taking the opportunity to steal Jaymin’s shoes as they aren’t allowed in the holy Mandap.  When Joanna did make her appearance and procession to the Mandap, she looked amazing in her traditional red lehenga, and it was so lovely to see Jaymin’s face once the veil was uncovered and they could finally see each other. It was an amazing ceremony, and I was so happy to be able to capture it all for them.

The Pavilion Club

After so many events, Joanna and Jaymin wanted to relax and continue to celebrate their amazing wedding week, so after gathering with friends, family and the community at the Temple, they had a few hours to get ready for their final reception at The Pavilion Club in Knightsbridge. Friends and family joined Joanna and Jaymin for the evening in London, where they had hired The Terrace, a beautiful space with an outside terraced area, as well as a private room and bar for them to enjoy all to themselves for the evening. They had live singers for the whole night too which added to the experience. There was amazing food, dancing, speeches and just a whole lot of fun. It was an amazing week spent with an amazing couple and all their people!
