Inspiration for Small, Intimate Weddings and Elopements in London
Over the past few years, smaller and more intimate weddings, or ‘the micro wedding’ have become increasingly popular amongst many couples, especially within London. I love all weddings but there is something about these smaller celebrations that is simply charming. Maybe there is a more relaxed element to the day. Perhaps there is less to worry about, or maybe it’s that the focus is more so on being married. Whatever it might be, if you’re thinking of a smaller wedding or even an elopement in London, then this blog may help to inspire you and plan your day.
Iconic and Timeless Town Hall Weddings in London
I have photographed at many of London’s iconic Town Halls which are all beautiful and have always delivered heartfelt ceremonies for my couples. There are lots of options when it comes to which Town Hall to choose, however, you must ensure you give notice at a registry office at least 29 days before your wedding, whichever venue you decide on. This is a requirement for elopements too, so do think about this before running away to get married! There are also many wonderful venues that cater for smaller groups and are beautiful spaces for your ceremony and sometimes for your reception too. Below is a little insight into some of the more intimate weddings I have photographed in London as well as some places to consider if you’re planning on a London wedding.
Â
Old Marylebone Town Hall
Aesthetically, Old Marylebone Town Hall is one of my favourite places to photograph. The building itself is so glorious inside and out which makes for some wonderful photo opportunities. The iconic columns and steps outside with the Lions are symbolic of Old Marylebone Town Hall and are a wonderful backdrop to your wedding photos. The staff have always been so helpful here too and, in my experience, have timings for each ceremony down to a fine art.
Islington Town Hall
Intimate London Wedding Venue
Another beautiful building, which is a wonderful option for smaller weddings. Although known for its larger red Council Chamber room, there are many rooms available for smaller ceremonies at Islington Town Hall, one of which is Room 99. Equally pleasing to the eye with subtle gold accents and crystal chandeliers, Room 99 is a great option for an intimate ceremony and seats up to 20 guests.
Micro weddings + Elopements
Chelsea Old Town Hall
The archway framed by beautiful flowers has long been a signature spot for wedding photos at Chelsea Old Town Hall and I just love it. There are again, a range of room sizes to choose from with the Rosetti and Harrington Rooms being a popular choice for smaller and more intimate ceremonies.
